Winter Sports – Are You Covered?
It is shocking that so many individuals on a winter sports holiday fail to get the right travel insurance in place! Or they wrongly assume that winter sports is automatically part of their travel insurance policy. Many travel insurance providers don’t offer any kind of winter sports cover, and when they do offer winter sports cover it is typically an optional extra and you will specifically need to request it gets added to your policy.
In fact did you know that without a winter sports option on your policy your ski equipment won’t be covered if it is lost or stolen???
And for all you expert skiers and snowboarders out there that think you are experienced enough not to get injured we would like to remind you there are lots of risks that you have no control over such as icy conditions and the actions of other skiers or boarders on the trails that could put you in danger…
Some things to keep in mind when looking at winter sports cover, as options can vary:
– Some policies may compensate you for lessons or lift tickets if you are ill or injured
– If you are going with children make sure your policy covers the whole family
– Off-piste skiing cover can vary a lot between insurers and often includes restrictions
– You may not be covered if you are under the influence of alcohol
– Check your policy if a helmet is required for cover
– The most important thing to note is that winter sports cover polices can vary greatly so make sure you check your policy wording carefully before your winter holiday.
And in case you are curious, Yes – all of Status Global Insurance travel insurance policies can be extended to include winter sports cover 🙂
